| Example: Wap-2-Go Mobile CMS Website on Symbian UIQ |
Introduction
Welcome to the dedicated home for the development of the Wap-2-Go Mobile Content Management System (CMS) Portal. The simple 'all in the box' solution for webmasters wishing to provide dynamic mobile website content to their users of mobile phones, PDAs or other mobile devices.
Wap-2-Go mobile cms websites are fully customisable to your own design and needs, or use pre-designed themes to style your mobile website portal. A selection of themes are included with the basic releases of Wap-2-Go and more will be added as the mobile cms script is further developed.
Wap-2-Go mobile cms is a mobile website that can be accessible on mobile phones, PDAs and other mobile devices, generated 'on-the-fly' from your site content. Customisable user preferences allow a bespoke fit to any device and also allow disabling of images by users to reduce their bandwidth/traffic (useful if charged per Kb by their provider). The use of themes also allow easy styling of your mobile website portal.
Wap-2-Go is fully WML (WAP1.1) and xHTML (WAP2.0) compliant. WML being the standard mark-up language for older mobile websites; whilst xHTML (WAP 2.0) is the current standard allowing more advanced styling - giving your site an even more impressive look.
Visit our mobile website portal to see a demonstration of the Wap-2-Go Mobile CMS Website in action - http://Wap-2-Go.Mobi!
The demo above allows you to test the Wap-2-Go Mobile CMS in a live environment. All content is live from this site. Your browser must support iFrames for the demo to appear; click here if you see no demo.
What is CMS?
CMS is short-hand for "Content Management System" - this is a system that allows you to simply enter data and content rather than having to manually write or "code" your website. So no knowledge of PHP, HTML, WML or other coding is required. Your content is stored on a database on your server and accessed when requested by your users.
What can it do for me?
If you run any website using a "nuke" database you can simply install Wap-2-Go on your server - a very simple procedure - and give your users instant access to your content whilst on the go.
Alternatively, if you currently have no website, but are looking to provide a multi-platform website (meaning it will be accessible both on the web and on mobile devices) I will soon provide a full distribution of Wap-2-Go which also incorporates the web-based element. In the meantime, if you are looking to start a website you can use distributions of Nuke such as "PHP-Nuke" or "Ravensnuke". Simply install the main nuke distribution and then install Wap-2-Go once you have setup your site.
Ok, so how much is this going to cost me?!!!
Nothing! You can't complain at that can you? All I ask is that users can donate towards development of this project - please bear in mind that this is taking a huge amount of my time and I do have to pay for this website. To donate please click here
So how do I get a Wap-2-Go Mobile CMS Website?
Simple! Simply register (for free) on this site to obtain access to our downloads. Download the latest distribution and follow the simple instructions provided to install Wap-2-Go on your server. Please remember to check the Releases Forum for the latest release of the Wap-2-Go Mobile CMS platform.
For the latest news, please read the latest announcements below, or visit the forum for up-to-date discussions surrounding Wap-2-Go.

The mobiThinking compendium of mobile statistics and research
The stats, all the stats and nothing but the stats?
In the past two years, we have gone from a smattering of mobile statistics to an abundance of useful information. But there's still a long way to go, there are still huge gaps in our knowledge, some countries enjoy a proliferation of data sources, while others have little or none; and the quality of statistics varies incredibly. As telecoms regulators and industry associations start to collect and share meaningful data, things will only get better.
An unfortunate side effect of the media?s recent surge of enthusiasm for mobile in the past year is a tendency to highlight data of dubious quality (often when better is available), and/or widespread misunderstanding, misreporting and failure to qualify figures they have cherry-picked. This isn't just misleading and confusing, it's damaging. If brands are persuaded by hype to divert funds into niche, ill-thought-through mobile projects and then get burnt, the whole mobile business suffers.
This mobile stats compendium ? which is regularly updated - hopefully goes some way to putting right some of the sins of the last few years. But please remember that even the best quality independent statistics are speculative to some degree ? stats are not facts.
• If you use any of the stats, please remember to source and link to both the analysts and to mobiThinking. Please do not republish more than 5 percent of the content without seeking permission.
• Thanks to all the analysts, associations and regulators that continue to send us their research. Please keep us updated: editor(at)mobiThinking.com.
